Praying more purposefully for our Missions Partners
Tim and Julie Christensen serve on Penelakut Island in British Columbia. The primary focus of this area of ministry is evangelism & discipleship. They partner with the community using their ROOTS outdoor ministry, personal relationships, youth ministry, and working with the handful of Christians in the Penelakut community. They live on Vancouver Island in the community of Nanaimo, where they utilize similar strategies as at Penelakut, focusing first on Penelakut people living on VI and other First Nations communities. Tim serves as the NAIM Regional Director for Western Washington and Southwest British Columbia and on the overall leadership team at NAIM. Julie serves as the connecting point for NAIM’s staff prayer ministry.
Dear Friends at Milford Bible Church,
Last week we were privileged to have a Native speaker open the Bible and encourage us at our annual staff conference. He encouraged us to look back at what God has done, look ahead to where He is leading us, and to look to God to lead and sustain us as we carry out our mission of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with Native people. As we look back over the past year we are grateful that God has made us partners in this journey. Thank you for your faithful prayer and financial support of this ministry. We praise God that we continue to have open access to Penelakut and for the community’s openness to partnering with us in the schools and community functions. The simple fact that we are welcome and trusted in the community is a HUGE praise. We praise God for the homes that have been opened to us and the opportunities we have to share God’s love and the hope of Jesus. We’ve had dreams of adjusting some of our programmings and recently, our program received a large gift that will enable us to purchase the equipment to make those changes a reality. We praise God for you and making it possible to be here long-term, running the ROOTS program and doing the important work of walking side-by-side with the Penelakut people through life so that we can point people to our Savior Jesus Christ. A few ways you could pray for us are: Please pray for hearts that are open to hearing and responding positively to the gospel. We’re pushing to get a group together to pray on a regular basis on Penelakut. This has been difficult due to rolling Covid-19 closures on Penelakut Island. Please pray that we’ll be able to continue to connect with people as the weather drives them inside. House to house visiting has been discouraged on Penelakut which adds another layer of challenge to this aspect of ministry. We pray that God continues to strengthen you as you follow Him! Thank you so much for caring for us as your missionaries.
In Christ, Tim & Julie Christensen
