Weather Policy

In all situations, it remains the primary responsibility of the individual to find out if activities at the Church are continuing or cancelled. It also remains the primary responsibility of the individual to use good judgement based on weather and road conditions where they are when determining whether or not to drive to the church regardless of activity status.

Monday - Friday:

MBC will generally follow the Delaware Valley School District school closure/dismissal policy. School closings can be found at www.dvsd.org on the homepage, by calling 570-296-1800 (press 9, then 8), or by listening to local news and radio stations. The WNEP website also posts school closings.

If school is cancelled in the morning, all daytime activities (till 4:00 PM) at MBC are cancelled and the building will be closed. (Staff may still report as available and safe, but the building will be closed for normal business purposes).

On days when school is cancelled in the morning, evening meetings and activities (after 4:00 PM) at the church will go on as scheduled unless cancelled by the Pastor/Elders in conjunction with the ministry leader or committee chairman involved. In the event evening activities are cancelled due to continuing inclement weather, attempts will be made, if time allows, to initiate a “one-call”, a cancellation message will be placed on the main Church phone number (dial 570-296-6019 and follow prompts), and ministry leaders/committee chairs will attempt to notify those involved by pre-determined means (text message, email, phone call, etc.).

If DV Schools have a delayed opening, the church will open at noon that day. Any activity scheduled before noon is cancelled. Any activity scheduled to start after noon on DV delayed open days will go on as scheduled. If after school activities are cancelled or school is dismissed early for inclement weather, all evening activities at the church are also cancelled. In the event evening activities are cancelled, attempts will be made, if time allows, to initiate a “one-call”, a cancellation message will be placed on the main Church phone number (dial 570-296-6019 and follow prompts), and ministry leaders/committee chairs will attempt to notify those involved by pre-determined means (text message, email, phone call, etc.). In the event of inclement weather cancellations for ministries, committee meetings will cancel or convene at the discretion of the committee chair.

Saturday - Sunday:

If services or ministries are cancelled, a call will go out via the “one call” system approximately 90 minutes prior to the start of the activity being cancelled. A message will also be placed on the main Church phone number. If an activity is not being cancelled, “one calls” will not go out stating the activity is still on. No “one call” means that activities are continuing as normal. Saturday/Sunday cancellations will be made upon discussion and decision by the Sr. Pastor, designated Elder, and designated deacon after determining weather conditions and coordinating with the snow plowing crew.
