Milford Bible Church is currently accepting applications for the position of Lead Pastor

We are a mid-sized bible church founded in 1961, located in northeastern Pennsylvania. We take pleasure in ministering to our rural community consisting of Matamoras, Shohola, and Milford in PA, Montague in NJ, and Port Jervis in NY. Our hope is to welcome a pastor that would continue to lead us in our mission of glorifying God by sharing the Gospel and developing disciples who know Christ and are committed to making Him known. 
We would love for you to help us carry out our goal of being a vibrant, regional church of believers devoted to Christ, each other, and our community, equipped with the Gospel message that reaches and transforms lives.

Our Pastor Profile
  • Called to pastorate by the Holy Spirit to both teach and preach the Word of God.
  • Our pastor will be above reproach, meeting the scriptural qualifications for elders as described in: 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, 1 Peter 5:1-4.
  • Masters of Divinity degree or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • A demonstrated ability in expository preaching and teaching that is relatable to new and seasoned christians alike (at least 20 sermons in the past 2 years).  
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, shepherding, relationship building, and discipleship.
  • Committed to outreach and evangelism and able to train the body as part of our calling to fulfill Matthew 28.
  • 5 years of ministry (leadership) experience preferred.
  • In agreement with the Mission, Vision, Values, and Statement of Faith of Milford Bible Church, including the Gender, Marriage, and Authority statement.
  • Maintains a strong commitment to home and foreign missions.
  • Self-awareness and humility – understands his own strengths and weaknesses, is candid about them, and works to complement weaknesses and capitalize on strengths.


Job Description
Gospel Preaching and Teaching
The Lead Pastor will:
  • Assume primary responsibility for providing clear, compelling, expositional, Christ-centered preaching of the Scriptures.
  • Develop the preaching schedule and delegate to others when appropriate, with the approval of the elder board.
  • Be actively involved in teaching outside the primary Sunday morning service.

Shepherding
The Lead Pastor will:
  • Share in visitation responsibilities with the Assistant Pastor of Visitation. This will include but is not limited to hospitals, nursing homes, shut-ins, new attendees, etc.
  • Perform funerals, weddings, baptisms, and baby dedications as needed.
  • Engage in pastoral care, counseling, visitation, and discipline.
  • Give leadership and vision for outreach and evangelism of MBC through example and delegation.
Leadership
The Lead Pastor will:
  • Plan the overall direction of the church with pastoral staff and elders, focusing on spiritual and ministry objectives.
  • Give direction to the pastoral staff and leadership through elder meetings, frequent communication, and an annual officer retreat to cast and shape vision for the coming year.
  • Plan and orchestrate all aspects of worship in close coordination with associate/assistant pastors and the music coordinator.
  • Serve as an ex officio member of all committees. The lead pastor can select the committees that he will fully participate in.
  • Oversee discipleship materials for various ministries and programs.
  • Give clear direction to pastoral staff regarding their areas of responsibility.
  • Act as manager in charge of staff during normal hours of operation.
  • Commit to a consistent, regular presence at the church building, and maintain a schedule of office hours conductive to the ministry of MBC and agreed upon by the elder board. His schedule, broadly understood, is communicated to the staff so that they can communicate with him as required.
